Dr. Sophie Nelson
Dr. Nelson is originally from Louisville, Colorado, and grew up riding horses. She always wanted to be a veterinarian and received her B.S. from Colorado State University in Biomedical Sciences, followed by her M.S. in Student Affairs in Higher Education (she realizes this is quite a detour from the science route, but absolutely loves working with students!).
As of May 2019, she will have received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from CSU. Her interests within veterinary medicine include client education and partnership, emergency medicine, and cardiology. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her horse (Nolan) and cat (Dio), exploring local breweries with her family and fiancé, laughing at cat memes, and cheering on the CSU Rams. After working at Chappelles as a receptionist and veterinary assistant since 2012, she is ecstatic to continue her professional career at the place that it all began!
Dr. Alida Mataczynski
Dr. M attended Colorado State University for her undergraduate studies and The Ohio State University, College for Veterinary Medicine. After school, Dr. M practiced large and small animal medicine and pursued her interest in complementary treatments. She completed the CuraCore Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians Program and was very happy to see the improvements it made in her patients.
Dr. Shelley Zaloudek
Dr. Z was born and raised in North Carolina. She was a UNC Tar Heel for her bachelor’s degree, then obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University in 2007. She's worked in small animal general practice, urgent care, and emergency practice, splitting her time between the mountains of Northern Colorado and the barrier island beaches off the coast of North Carolina.
Dr. Z’s passion lies in veterinary urgent care. There is no better feeling than helping a pet and at the same time making their family feel better. Sometimes, it's through little repairs such as a few stitches, or an ear infection causing pain and soreness. Sometimes, it's a catastrophic event or illness where we have to pull our patients from the brink of death. Sometimes we're delivering puppies or performing cesarean sections to bring new life into the world. There is nothing more rewarding!
In her spare time, Dr. Z loves to spend time with her family and her Australian Shepherd,
Huckleberry. They all love the outdoors, including their backyard chickens and weekend fishing
trips. And when the weather turns for the worst, a good book and curling up with her dog is all
she needs.
